The Liberty women's tennis team will compete in three matches this week, with one non-conference bout and its first two ASUN Conference matches of the spring.

Liberty (10-2) and Charlotte (13-4) will face each other, Wednesday at noon at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex in Charlotte, N.C.

The Lady Flames will then open ASUN play at North Alabama (4-8) on Friday morning. Match time is set for 11 a.m. Eastern (10 a.m. Central) at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts in Florence, Ala. Liberty will close out the weekend with another conference match in Nashville, Tenn. The Lady Flames and Lipscomb Bisons (5-6) will play at 11 a.m. Eastern (10 a.m. Central) at the Huston Marsh Griffith Tennis Center.

Liberty enters the week having won its last four matches overall to get to 10 wins on the season. Last weekend, the Lady Flames topped Charleston Southern and College of Charleston on the road by identical 4-2 scores.

Charlotte stands at 13-4 and has claimed four straight matches as well. The 49ers defeated Marshall 6-1 in their most recent match, last Saturday. North Alabama won its last contest by a 6-0 score against Mississippi Valley State, last Sunday. Lipscomb fell to Murray State 4-3 on Saturday in its most recent bout.

Lady Flames News and Notes
• The Lady Flames were voted to finish second in the 2021 ASUN Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll, behind only North Florida.
• Liberty and Charlotte will be meeting for the fifth time. The Lady Flames hold a 3-1 edge in the all-time series. The two schools last met on April 10, 2017, a 6-1 Liberty victory.
• Liberty and North Alabama squared off for the first time in 2019 but did not face each other in 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic halting the season in mid-March. In the 2019 meeting, the Lady Flames earned a 4-0 road victory over the Lions.
• Liberty is 2-0 all-time against Lipscomb. The Lady Flames defeated the Bisons 4-3 in the first ASUN meeting on March 30, 2019. The victory was head coach Jeff Maren's 100th at Liberty. The Lady Flames also defeated the Bisons in 2013.
• Liberty's Esther Lovato continues to hold an unbeaten singles record, this spring. The Austin, Texas, native is 11-0 in the No. 4 singles slot this spring and owns a 16-match winning streak dating back to the 2020 season. Lovato is also 3-0 in doubles with partner Marina Davtyan.
• The Lady Flames are 2-1 all-time in ASUN road matches. Liberty defeated Kennesaw State and North Alabama on the road in 2019 and lost to FGCU that year.
• Liberty is 9-0 in matches this season in which they have secured the doubles point. The Lady Flames' top unit this spring has been Micaela Ode Mitre and Tiffany Nguyen, who are 8-2 on the season.
