    Liberty Set for Home-Opening Doubleheader Against Campbell and Georgetown

    The Liberty Lady Flames tennis squad will host Campbell and Georgetown in a doubleheader, Saturday at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.

    Liberty (0-2) will square off with Campbell (0-1) in its first home match of the 2022 season. Match time is set for 9 a.m. The Lady Flames will then take on Georgetown (0-1) at 3 p.m.

    Liberty is 11-3 all-time against Campbell. The two teams last squared off in the 2018 Big South Women’s Tennis Championship semifinals, with the Lady Flames winning that match by a 4-0 score. The Lady Flames are 1-1 all-time versus the Georgetown Hoyas. Liberty earned a 7-0 home triumph over the Hoyas in the most recent meeting between the two teams on Jan. 25, 2020.

    Lady Flames News and Notes
    • Liberty posted a 10-2 home record in 2021, including a perfect 5-0 mark at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center. The Lady Flames defeated ASUN foe North Alabama 5-2 in their most recent dual match in the facility (April 3, 2021), which opened last February.
    • The Lady Flames are 30-5 at home over the last four seasons.
    • Liberty opened the season with a pair of losses on Jan. 15 against Minnesota (6-1 final) and Toledo (4-2 final). Both matches were played in Fort Myers, Fla.
    • Liberty freshman Maria Juliana Parra Romero sports a 12-3 overall singles record between fall and spring competition. She is 1-1 in the No. 2 singles position so far this spring and has one doubles victory with Willa Rogers in the No. 2 position, which came against Toledo on Jan. 15.
    • The Lady Flames were picked to finish third in the league in the 2022 ASUN Women’s Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll, behind only North Florida (No. 1) and FGCU (No. 2).
    • Liberty posted an 18-7 overall record and 6-0 mark in ASUN regular season matches in 2021. The Lady Flames’ 18 wins were tied for the second most in a season in program history.
    • The Lady Flames return three ASUN All-Conference selections from a season ago, including Alexandra Almborg (first team), Tiffany Nguyen (second team) and Lovato (second team).
    • Campbell finished the 2021 campaign with a 4-8 overall record and 2-3 Big South mark. Georgetown only competed in three matches a season ago, going 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the BIG EAST.
