The Lady Flames look to close out an impressive spring regular season with a trip to Delaware State on Saturday.

First draw is set for 11 a.m. from Drass Field in Dover, Del.

Liberty (10-6) currently sits atop the ASUN with a perfect 6-0 record, highlighted by a 12-10 victory over No. 21 Jacksonville on April 1, its first win over both the Dolphins and a ranked program in team history.

Delaware State holds a 2-13 overall mark with an 0-6 ASUN record. Liberty, 3-0 all-time facing Delaware State, last met the Hornets in 2022, with Liberty pulling away for a dominant 22-5 outcome. The Hornets won their first two matches of the year over Howard and Akron before losing 13 straight.

Liberty, in reverse, stumbled out of the gates facing multiple ranked opponents, often on the road. These tough tests came on the road facing No. 1 North Carolina on Feb. 15 (18-6 final), No. 21 Richmond on Feb. 18 (16-8 final), No. 11 Duke on Feb. 28 (18-4 final) and at No. 12 Notre Dame on March 19 (19-8 final). Liberty also hosted No. 8 James Madison on March 8 (13-5 final) and No. 9 Florida on April 12 (16-7 final).

These tests have built Liberty up for an undefeated season against all other opponents, including the victory over No. 21 Jacksonville which has given Liberty at least a ASUN regular season title. A win over the Hornets would give the Lady Flames their first outright conference regular season title in program history.

The Lady Flames have secured a win in nine of their last 11 contests. Liberty currently owns a 4-4 record and could bump that to a winning record with a win over Delaware State on Saturday.

Lady Flames News & Notes

• Senior attacker Lizzy Ferguson has dominated all over the field but has excelled at giving the Lady Flames an advantage in the draw circle. She finds herself fourth in the nation in draw control wins per game at 9.44 per contest. Ferguson’s 151 draw controls this season are a program record, and she is the program record holder for career draws with 257. She trails Bailey Wilson (9.47) for the conference lead with just a single game remaining.

• As a team, Liberty ranks 26th the nation in total draw controls won per game (15.19). Junior Mackenzie Lehman is second on the team with 31 total draw controls.

• Grad transfer Grace Loughery leads a Liberty defense with 28 caused turnovers, good for 35th in the nation at 1.75 per game. Loughery leads the team in ground balls with 43, placing her 25th in the country at 2.69 per game.

• As a unit, Liberty ranks fifth in the country and atop the ASUN with 12.31 caused turnovers per game (197 total). Lehman ranks second on the team and in the ASUN in this category with 20 on the season (1.25 per game)

• Lehman and Cami Merkel lead the Lady Flames in goals (33 each) while Lehman (48) outpaces Merkel (45) in points. The two lead a persistent scoring attack which ranks 16th in the country in shots per game with 32.38. The 33 goals each is good enough for fourth in the ASUN.

• Goalkeeper Taylor Gallarello owns a 9-1 record in net. The sophomore netminder also has a .411 save percentage, 10.55 goals-against-average, 58 saves, 18 ground balls and two caused turnovers.

• Junior Jordan Sheive seeks her 100th career point Saturday. She finished just shy of the century mark after tallying two goals and an assist last Saturday against Lindenwood. Sheive enters the weekend with 99 points (64 g, 35 a).

• Liberty has won 10 or more games in five straight full seasons.

• The Lady Flames are currently listed at No. 29 in the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse RPI. Delaware State is currently in the No. 122 slot.
