    After losing its season stroke average leader and getting off a tough start during the morning, No. 24 Liberty rebounded during the afternoon flight at the Gator Invitational.

    Liberty’s Kieran Vincent, a 2021 All-American and the team leader in season stroke average (71.67), had to withdraw prior to play getting underway on Saturday morning, leaving the Flames with four golfers for 36 holes of play.

    After carding a 19-over par 299 during its first trip around the Mark Bostick Golf Course (par 70, 6,701 yards), Liberty trimmed 13 shots off its score with a 6-over par 286.

    The Flames enter tomorrow’s round in 14th place with a 25-over par 585 (299-286). Liberty will wrap up competition in the Gator Invitational on Sunday, heading off the No. 10 tee (par 4, 418 yards) starting at 9:12 a.m.

    Round Recap – Liberty’s Starting Five:

    • Austin Duncan – T37 3-over par 143 (73-70)
    • Jonathan Yaun – T52 5-over par 145 (75-70)
    • Connor Polender – T56 6-over par 146 (76-70)
    • Austin Barbin – T74 11-over par 151 (75-76)

    Field Reflections:

    • 31 Florida, the tournament host, used it home course advantage to build a 13-stroke lead heading into tomorrow’s final round.
    • The Gator carded a 24-under par 536 (267-269) during play on Saturday.
    • 3 Oklahoma State, the top-ranked team in the 14-team field, is in second place with a 11-under par 549 (278-271).
    • 25 South Florida is in a distant third place with a 4-under par 556 (280-276).
    • A total of 20 players finished the day in red figure, led by Florida’s Fred Biondi, who finished play on Saturday with an 11-under par 129 (63-66).

    Birdies and Bogeys – Liberty Team Notes:

    • The Flames are currently led by Austin Duncan, who is tied for 37th place with a 3-over par 143 (73-70).
    • Liberty had three players carded an even par round of 70 during the afternoon flight (Austin Duncan, Jonathan Yaun and Connor Polender).
    • Liberty played its best golf of the day on the par-5 holes where the Flames ranked fifth in the field in par-5 scoring (4.75 scoring average/-6).
