New Start Time Announced for Friday's Series Opener

Due to the inclement weather forecast for the Nashville area for Friday evening, the start time of the opening game of the Liberty-Lipscomb has been moved to 3 p.m. The other game times for the weekend remain unchanged.

Quick Hits

• After going 2-2 during their latest homestand, the Liberty Flames will travel to Nashville, Tenn., for a three-game ASUN Conference series against the Lipscomb Bisons this weekend. Liberty will visit Ken Dugan Field for the first time in program history.

• The Flames hold a 6-1 record against the Bisons. Six of the seven meetings between the two have been regular season meetings at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium.

• Liberty has started ASUN Conference play with a 3-3 mark. The Flames took their first ASUN home series of the year over Austin Peay, two games to one, this past weekend.

• Head Coach Scott Jackson is in his seventh season at Liberty. Jackson has led the Flames to a 206-129 record and three NCAA Regional appearances, the most of any coach in program history.

Guy Gets Going

• Over the last 14 games, center fielder Jaylen Guy has been the Flames' hottest hitter. The junior has hit .346 and posted also has the highest on base percentage of .414.

• 10 of Guy's 18 hits dung the span have been for extra bases, nine doubles and a triple.

• The outfielder has raised his batting average by 95 points from .182 to .277 on the season during the 14 games.

• All nine doubles of his doubles have come during the span. Guy enters the weekend leading the Flames in two-base hits and is tied for sixth in the ASUN Conference.

• In 52 at bats over the span, Guy has only struck out three times.

Around the Diamond

  • Reliever Trey Carter had two solid outings last week. Carter earned a save with five innings of relief in a win over Old Dominion on March 22. He held Monarchs to a run over the first four innings of the outing and struck out a career-high nine. This past Sunday, he pitched 2 1/3 of scoreless relief, allowing the Flames to rally for an extra-inning win.
  • Relievers Cole Garrett and Todd Hudson led the Flames with 10 appearances this season. Garrett recorded the win, retiring all three batters he faced in Liberty's 6-5, 10-inning win over Austin Peay on Sunday.
  • Garrett Horn allowed one run on three hits over 10 1/3 innings of work in his last two starts, both wins. He has held opponents to an 0.86 batting average in the two contests and enters the weekend second in the ASUN and eighth nationally in opponent batting average.
  • On March 19 at FGCU, catcher Gray Betts became one of 10 Flames since 2005 to play in over 200 career games. The catcher enters the weekend having played in 207 games during his Liberty career.
  • Taking over as the starter at first base against Wake Forest on March 15, Brayden Horton has hit a team-leading .400 with runners in scoring position and driven in a team-high 12 runs over nine games.
  • Second baseman Nate Keeter drove in a career-high seven runs with a three-run home run and grand slam on Saturday. In his last five games, the sophomore has 10 RBI.
  • Shortstop Jake Lazzaro has reached base safely in eight straight games entering the weekend. He has hit .294 with 10 RBI and six runs scored over the last 10 games.
  • Third baseman Cam Foster has scored a team-high 11 runs and posted a .400 on base percentage over the last 10 games. He enters the weekend having reached base safely in 12 consecutive games.
  • Kane Kepley has started the last five games in the left field. This past Friday, the freshman scored a career-high three times in the Flames' 12-1 win over Austin Peay.
  • Center fielder Jaylen Guy leads the Flames with eight stolen bases and enters the weekend tied for seventh in the conference. The outfielder has 35 career stolen bases.
  • Right fielder Camden Troyer enters Friday's contest with a seven-game hitting streak, tying Gray Betts for the longest by a Liberty player this season. He leads the Flames in RBI (17) and runs scored (19). Troyer also leads Liberty with a .333 batting average with runners in scoring position.
  • Over the past week, Three Hillier has seen time as the Liberty designated hitter and catcher. The junior has started all 24 games and also has started in left field. Hillier enters the weekend with a 17-game reached base safely streak, the longest by a Flame this season. Over the past 10 games, he scored 11 runs to tie Camden Troyer for the team lead in runs scored with 19.
