    2022 Schedule

The Liberty lacrosse team has released its spring 2022 schedule, featuring four ranked opponents from a season ago.

Three of Liberty’s four games against ranked teams will be at the Liberty Lacrosse Field, including: No. 7 Florida (March 9), No. 8 Duke (April 7) and No. 18 Jacksonville (April 23). The Lady Flames will also take on No. 12 James Madison on the road, April 13.

Liberty’s strong regular season schedule also includes nine of 17 games against teams that finished at No. 45 or better in the final NCAA Women’s Lacrosse RPI listing. The Lady Flames will open their season at Vanderbilt (No. 21 RPI), Feb. 12 in Nashville, Tenn. Liberty’s home opener will be against Richmond (No. 41 RPI) on Feb. 19. The Lady Flames will face another Commonwealth foe, Virginia Tech (No. 38 RPI), Feb. 23 in Blacksburg, Va.

“This is by far the best schedule we have had in my time here. We will be challenged every step of the way, and this will prepare us to be playing our best lacrosse in May,” said Liberty Head Coach Kelly Nangle. “We have a great balance of home and away games, and we will be welcoming quite a few top 20 teams to our campus. This schedule gives us plenty of opportunities to be playing in the NCAA Tournament come May. Our girls are fired up and ready to go. Go Flames!”

Liberty’s five-game ASUN slate will start with a home contest versus the Delaware State Hornets, April 2 in Lynchburg. The Lady Flames will welcome four-time defending ASUN champion Jacksonville to town on April 23.

The Lady Flames’ spring break trip will feature road games at UC Davis (March 11), Cal (March 13) and Cincinnati (March 20). After returning to Lynchburg, Liberty will face former Big South Conference rival High Point, March 26 at home.

The 2022 ASUN Lacrosse Championship will be held May 5-7 at Jacksonville’s D.B. Milne Field in Jacksonville, Fla. The winner of the ASUN Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship.

Liberty finished with a 10-9 record and 2-1 ASUN record in 2021 while playing a schedule that featured seven ranked foes. The Lady Flames made it to the ASUN Championship title for the second season in a row before falling to Jacksonville in the final.
