Liberty In Sixth Place After First Two Rounds Of Frank Landrey Invitational

Western Carolina holds a six-stroke lead over Charleston Southern after shooting a 571 on the first day of play on Monday at Liberty's Frank Landrey Invitational at the Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst.
Longwood posted a 588 while Towson and Radford shot a 590 rounding out the top five. In round two Liberty shot the second-best team score to place sixth at the end of the day.
Matt Cook from Western Carolina shot a 65 in the first round and a 67 in the second round to lead all players at day's end with a 132. Cook's teammate Andres Cuenca and Stuart Carrihill of Charleston Southern are five strokes back at 137. Carrihill shot a 64 in round one, which was the lowest score of the day.
Liberty was led by Michael Turner, who finished day one tied for 12th at 148. Josh Bain shot a team-low 72 in the second round to finish the day at 149 with Stephen Hawk. Jay Calvo and Parker McKoy shot 150 and 154, respectively, to round out the Liberty squad.
The Flames "B" team finished ninth out of 10 teams on day one with a 613. Andrew Nelson is tied for 18th with a 150. Peter Horstman shot a 154 and Mark Hammond and Manuel Moreno each shot a 155. Rounding out the squad was Nathan Clarkson who shot a 157 for the day.
The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes of competition tomorrow at the par-72, 7,059-yard Poplar Grove Golf Club in. There will be a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
