    Liberty Goes 9-0 Against Navy on Final Day of Home Hidden Dual, Sunday

    Liberty won all nine of its matches against the Navy Midshipmen on day two of the Liberty Hidden Dual, Sunday morning.

    The Lady Flames’ dominant final day at the Liberty Tennis Complex featured five singles wins and a sweep of the four singles contests with Navy. In Liberty’s other matches today, the Lady Flames went 1-1 in singles against players from Campbell and 0-1 in doubles versus Georgetown.

    Liberty wraps up a successful opening weekend with a combined 21-5 singles record and 10-3 doubles mark against Navy, Campbell and Georgetown.

    Key Stats & Notes
    • Liberty won all four doubles matches versus Navy. Priscila Janikian and Maria Juliana Parra Romero teamed up for their second win of the weekend, downing Jillian Taggart and Casey Accola 6-3. Tiffany Nguyen and Micaela Ode Mitre also prevailed for the second time in two days, scoring a 6-0 decision over Parvathi Shanker and Sia Chaudry of the Midshipmen.
    • The Lady Flames’ Marina Davtyan and Maretha Burger prevailed 6-4 on court two over Kate Lee and Sylvia Eklund after trailing 4-3 in their match. Finally, Bruna Sampaio and Elsa Kirch of Liberty moved to 2-0 in doubles on the weekend by virtue of their 6-2 triumph versus Ellie Chaote and Hanna Elks Smith.
    • In singles, Liberty finished 5-0 against Navy and 1-1 against Campbell.
    • The Lady Flames’ Parra Romero completed a perfect 6-0 weekend (3-0 singles, 3-0 doubles) with a 6-0, 6-0 result over Taggart. Parra Romero’s dominant two days of play saw her win 30 singles games while conceding only one.
    • Liberty’s Janikian and Esther Lovato each picked up their third singles victories. Janikian, making her Lady Flames debut this weekend, won in two sets against Chaudry, 7-6 (3), 6-1. Lovato downed Shanker (Navy) 6-0, 6-1.
    • Davtyan earned her second singles triumph of the weekend to finish 5-0 overall (2-0 singles, 3-0 doubles). The Yerevan, Armenia native defeated the Midshipmen’s Eklund 6-4, 6-1.
    • Ode Mitre bolstered her record to 5-0 for the tournament (2-0 singles, 3-0 doubles), as she bested Danford in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

    The Lady Flames will host their second hidden dual of the fall, Oct. 1-2 at the Liberty Tennis Complex. Additionally, sophomore Maria Juliana Parra Romero has been invited to compete at the ITA All-American Championships, Oct. 1-9 in Cary, N.C.
