    Liberty won its second ASUN match of the weekend, defeating visiting Lipscomb 6-1 on Sunday at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.

    The Lady Flames bolster their overall record to 14-5 and 3-1 in the ASUN. Lipscomb slips to 6-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

    Liberty runs its home record to 8-0 in 2022 and improves to 5-0 all-time versus Lipscomb as well.

    How It Happened
    • Liberty won the doubles point for a second straight match on the strength of its No. 1 and No. 3 units. The Lady Flames’ Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Kalani Soli were the first team to secure victory, doing so with a 6-2 win over Kate Popova and Sasha Dobranos on court one.
    • Liberty’s No. 3 team, Tiffany Nguyen and Micaela Ode Mitre, topped Eleanor Chapman and Perri Howard 6-2. Nguyen and Ode Mitre are a team-best 5-1 in spring doubles contests, including a 4-0 mark in the No. 2 slot.
    • Lady Flames sophomore Esther Lovato defeated Anja Trbeznik by a 6-2, 6-0 to put the hosts on top 2-0. Lovato is 14-2 in singles this spring and has won 12 straight matches. Over her last six matches, Lovato has won 72 games while losing only nine.
    • Lipscomb’s Popova put a point on the board for the guests with her 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Soli on court two.
    • Liberty junior Alexandra Almborg (No. 3 singles) won her singles match by a 6-2, 6-3 score versus Emma Zakordoniec.
    • With the Lady Flames leading 3-1, Parra Romero sealed the victory for the Lady Flames. She bested Dobranos 6-4, 6-1 on court one. The Liberty freshman is 11-2 in spring singles contests, including a 7-1 mark in the No. 1 position.
    • Liberty’s final two wins came in three-set fashion. Nguyen prevailed over Maddox Bandy (2-6, 6-0, 5-3 retired), while Willa Rogers edged Liza Diachenko 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Both Lady Flames players trailed by a set before rallying for victory.
    • Liberty’s five-point margin of victory is its largest ever against Lipscomb. All four previous meetings between the two squads resulted in a 4-3 Lady Flames win.
    • The Lady Flames improve to 15-2 all-time in ASUN regular season matches.
    • Liberty closes out the month of March with a 6-1 record.

    • Liberty will play its next match on the road at North Alabama (2-14, 0-3 ASUN). Friday’s match will get under way at 3 p.m. Eastern at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts in Florence, Ala.
    • The Lady Flames are 3-0 all-time against the Lions. Liberty defeated UNA twice in 2021, both by 5-2 scores.
