Liberty Finishes 14th in Elon's Sea Trail Intercollegiate Invitational

Liberty University shot the fourth best team round on Sunday to move up fives spots to finish Elon's Sea Trail Intercollegiate Invitational in 14th place out of 20 teams. 
 
Matt Cook took the crown in a tie-break to lead the Western Carolina Catamounts the first place finish.  Cook finished the tournament tied with Kris Shepherd of Kennesaw State after both men shot a 67 on day two to finish the tournament 10-under-par at 134.  Cook defeated Shepherd on the third hole of the tie-break.
 
WCU finished with a five-under-par 571 (286-285), one stroke ahead of Elon who finished second with a 572 (293-279).  James Madison, who led the tournament after the first round, finished third with a score of 575 (284-291).  Radford shot a 579 (293-286) to place fourth while Loyola finished fifth with a 581 (289-292).

For Liberty, Peter Horstman shot a tournament team low of 71 on Sunday to lead the Flames at four-over par for the tournament. Jay Calvo finished one stroke behind Horstman for the tournament as he shot one-over par on in the final round to finish at 149 for the 36 hole event.  Stephen Hawk shot a team high 78 on Saturday joined Horstman as he shot a 71 on Sunday to equal Calvo's 149 for the tournament.  Parker McKoy and Michael Turner round out the Flames as they finished at eight-over and nine-over par for the tournament shooting 152 and 153 respectively.
 
Liberty is back in action at their own tournament as they host the Frank Landrey Invitational at the Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst, Va. The tournament is a two day, 54-hole event October 16-17.
