    Liberty picked up its second win of the day and fifth of the season, defeating Longwood 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Liberty Tennis Complex.

    The Lady Flames (5-3) run their winning streak to three matches and are 5-0 at home in 2022 after winning their first home outdoor contest of the season. Longwood slips to 0-4.

    Liberty has swept the Lancers 7-0 in five straight meetings dating back to the 2017 campaign. The Lady Flames have won 16 of 20 all-time matches against the Lancers, including 11 straight.

I played towards my strengths, and my serve set me up in the point often. The atmosphere with playing with my teammates was amazing and helped me a lot in my way.”

    How It Happened
    • Liberty secured the doubles point by winning two of the three contested matches (No. 1 and No. 3). The Lady Flames won all six singles matches in two sets.
    • Liberty’s Tiffany Nguyen and Micaela Ode Mitre bested Emma Nurgazieva and Karina Rizvanova 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Nguyen and Ode Mitre’s triumph was their 30th all-time as a duo.
    • Longwood countered with a 6-4 win from Maria Saez and Wiktoria Czerny over the Lady Flames’ Eloise Saraty and Elsa Kirch on court two. Liberty’s No. 3 duo, Maretha Burger and Bruna Sampaio, needed a tiebreaker to close out their match with Alexandra Hincu and Zoe Barton. Burger and Sampaio prevailed 7-6 (2).
    • Kirch won her first career spring singles match this afternoon. The Garner, N.C. native topped the Lancers’ Hincu 6-1, 7-6 (2) on court six, closing out Liberty’s 7-0 sweep.
    • Freshman standout Maria Juliana Parra Romero collected Liberty’s first singles victory and her team-best 16th of the season, 6-0, 6-3 over Nurgazieva at No. 1 singles. Parra Romero holds a 5-1 dual match record and has won four straight contests.
    • Leading 2-0, Saraty brought the hosts within a point of victory when she defeated Czerny in two sets (6-2, 6-0) on court four. Burger made it 4-0 Lady Flames when she knocked off Nina Hederich 6-0, 6-3 on court five.
    • Lovato won for the second time in singles today, as she bested her counterpart Saez 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 2 match. The Lady Flames’ Willa Rogers prevailed 7-5, 7-5 versus Rizvanova in the No. 3 singles contest for a 6-0 home advantage prior to Kirch’s victory to secure the sweep.
    • Liberty improves to 4-0 in home doubleheader matches in 2022. The Lady Flames bested Campbell 7-0 and Georgetown 6-1 two weeks ago (Jan. 29) at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.

    • Liberty will head to Florida for a pair of matches next weekend. The Lady Flames will first square off with North Texas (4-1) in a neutral site match at the USF Varsity Courts in Tampa, Fla., Friday at noon. On Saturday, Liberty will take on the South Florida Bulls (1-4) at noon.
    • The Lady Flames are 1-1 all-time versus North Texas and 0-2 against USF.
