    The new home of Liberty men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball, Liberty Arena officially opened its doors for the first time Monday afternoon with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

    Speakers included Liberty Director of Athletics Ian McCaw, Men’s Basketball Head Coach Ritchie McKay, Women’s Basketball Head Coach Carey Green, Volleyball Head Coach Trevor Johnson and Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance VP of Membership Services Heath Barret.

    The 4,000-seat arena will host its first event on Dec. 1, when the women’s basketball team hosts Norfolk State. The men’s basketball team will make its Liberty Arena debut on Dec. 3 against Saint Francis (Pa.) Volleyball’s inaugural season at the new arena will begin Jan. 22 versus VCU.
