2022 Schedule
The Liberty volleyball team, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Trevor Johnson, has released a 28-match schedule for the 2022 season.
This year’s slate features four in-season tournaments, which includes the Lady Flames hosting two tournaments for the first time in program history.
Liberty will play 12 matches at the Liberty Arena, the third season at the state-of-the-art 4,000-seat arena this season. Fans will get a preview of the 2022 season when the Lady Flames host Campbell in an exhibition match on Aug. 20.
The Lady Flames open the regular season at the VCU Invitational, hosted by perennial Atlantic 10 power VCU, Aug. 26-27. Liberty will take on VCU, High Point and Elon that weekend.
Liberty then hosts tournaments on the weekends of Sept. 2-3 and Sept. 16-17. The home opener will be Sept. 2 against Winthrop.
On Sept. 9-10, Liberty will make its first trip to California since the 2010 season, competing in a tournament at UC San Diego.
With the addition of Austin Peay and Queens to the ASUN this season, the conference schedule features one match against each of the other 13 ASUN teams, while Liberty will face Queens, Bellarmine and Eastern Kentucky twice each.
Liberty will get to see conference newcomer Queens twice right out of the gate, opening ASUN play against the Royals at Liberty Arena on Sept. 23 and then heading to Charlotte to face Queens two days later.
The ASUN Volleyball Championship will be hosted by Lipscomb, Nov. 17-19, with the winner of the eight-team tournament earning the ASUN’s automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship.
