Liberty will face a road test at Commonwealth foe William & Mary, Saturday afternoon. Match time between the Lady Flames and Tribe is slated for 1 p.m. at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg, Va.

Liberty will be looking for its ninth victory of the season. The Lady Flames are 8-4 this year and have won six of their last seven contests. Liberty fell 4-0 at No. 38 Charlotte, Sunday in its most recent match. Meanwhile, William & Mary brings a 3-4 mark into the weekend. The Tribe lost 5-2 to Penn, last Saturday, and have dropped three straight.

Lady Flames News and Notes

• The Lady Flames are 2-1 all-time against the Tribe. Liberty bested William & Mary 5-2 in the most recent matchup between the two teams (March 6, 2021), held at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center. A win would give Liberty three straight victories in the series.

• In last year’s 5-2 triumph over the Tribe, the Lady Flames won the doubles point and four of six singles matches. Current Liberty players Tiffany Nguyen (No. 2), Marina Davtyan (No. 3), Esther Lovato (No. 4) and Eloise Saraty (No. 6) each won their respective singles contests.

• Liberty is in search of its second road win of 2022. The Lady Flames are 1-2 in true road matches. Liberty bested South Florida 4-2 in a road contest, Feb. 19.

• The Lady Flames have collected one ASUN Player of the Week award so far this spring, with freshman Maria Juliana Parra Romero receiving her first career honor, Feb. 22. Parra Romero leads the squad with an 18-4 singles record this year, including a 7-2 mark this spring.

• Saturday’s match is the second of six straight road matches for the Lady Flames. Liberty will play road matches at UTSA (March 13) and Texas State (March 16) before opening ASUN play at Kennesaw State on March 18. The Lady Flames will close out the road trip with a match at FGCU, March 20.
