King Named Preseason All-Conference, Liberty Picked Third in Preseason Poll Image

King Named Preseason All-Conference, Liberty Picked Third in Preseason Poll

As the Liberty women's soccer team starts the season on Aug. 18, the Lady Flames have been picked to finish third in the ASUN Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Liberty’s Meredith King was named to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team for the first time in her career.

King returns as Liberty’s leader in points after scoring four goals last season and a team-high four assists. The junior played in all 19 games and started in 18 contests as she ranked No. 5 in the ASUN in assists last season. The native of Virginia Beach, Va. Ranked No. 12 in the ASUN in points (12) and No. 16 in goals as King scored one game-winning goal last season. During the 2021 Spring Season King was named the ASUN Freshman of the Year after tallying five points and scoring two game-winning goals.

Liberty is coming off a season where they were ASUN East Division Co-Champions. Liberty head coach, Lang Wedemeyer is entering his sixth season at Liberty and has 205 career wins.
