Hamlett Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Recognition
Senior Lizzie Hamlett of the Liberty field hockey squad has earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition for her performance last week.
Hamlett, a midfielder from Fredericksburg, Va., receives her first career weekly honor from the conference. The senior notched her first career two-goal game last Tuesday in Liberty’s home opener versus No. 5 Northwestern.
Hamlett’s first goal in the contest came late in the third quarter at the 44:01 mark, assisted by Jill Bolton, and tied the game 2-2. Her second goal evened the score again at 3-all and came after a blocked shot on a penalty corner, as she batted the ball into the cage at the 53:28 mark. Hamlett matched a career high with four points in the match, and her second goal was the 10th of her career.
Hamlett notched two shots, one on goal, at No. 6 Louisville on Sunday. Through five games of the fall campaign, she has three goals (third on team), two assists (tied for second on team) and eight points (third on team).
Hamlett and No. 11 Liberty will be back in action for their BIG EAST Conference opener, Friday. The Lady Flames (3-2) will take on the Georgetown Hoyas (2-3) at 1 p.m. at Cooper Field in Washington, D.C.
