Griffin, McClinton Post Lofty 200 Finishes at UNF Invitational

Liberty’s Diamantae Griffin and Donald McClinton both finished among the top five collegians in a star-studded men’s 200 field, Friday at the UNF Invitational.
Griffin (21.05) and McClinton (21.06) came in 11th and 12th overall, including fourth and fifth among the collegiate entrants. The event was won by reigning Olympic champion Andre De Grasse in 20.67.
Griffin and McClinton placed just ahead of Virginia Tech’s Cole Beck (21.11), the 2022 ACC indoor champion in this event.
Christian Lyon won his heat of the 200 in 21.63, crossing the line 24th overall in the 73-member field.
In the women’s 200 heats, the Lady Flames battled headwinds throughout. Isis Brooks clocked 24.04 into a -1.9 m/s wind, good for 16th place of 78. Running her first 200 of the outdoor season, Janai Scott took 35th place in 24.90 (-0.6).
