The Game
The Liberty University Flames (7-11, 1-3 Big South) continue their road trip when they travel to take on the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers (10-7, 3-1 Big South) at the Kimbel Arena (1,039) in Conway, S.C., on Jan. 20, 2007. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. EST.

The Coaches
Flames' head coach Randy Dunton is currently in his sixth year overall as head coach of the Liberty basketball program. He served as the interim head coach during the 1997-98 season and was named full-time head coach prior to the 2002-03 campaign. Dunton has posted a 59-78 record since returning to Liberty, which includes two second-
place finishes in the Big South and a share of the regular-season title in 2004 en route to the program's second-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Buzz Peterson is in his second season as the head men's basketball
coach at Coastal Carolina University. He is the fifth coach in
Coastal Carolina's 31-year basketball history.

In his first season at CCU, Peterson directed the Chanticleers to
the program's first winning season in 12 years and first 20-win season
in 13 years, along with their first berth in the Big South Championship
game since 1993.

Liberty Versus Coastal Carolina
Liberty holds the all-time series advantage with a 21-16 mark. The
Flames are 9-8 at Coastal Carolina and 12-8 at home. The Chanticleers
won the last meeting, 78-61, in Lynchburg, Va., on Feb. 23.

Larry Blair Versus Coastal Carolina
In seven career games against the Chanticleers, Larry Blair is averaging
15.3 points per game.

Larry Blair On Fire
Larry Blair scored 11 of his game-high 21 points in the final six minutes
of the Flames loss at UNC Asheville on Jan 6.

Anthony Smith Nearing 500 Career Points
Sophomore Anthony Smith has 480 career points. Smith needs 20
points to become the 45th player to score 500 career points for the
Flames.

Larry Blair A Scoring Machine
During Larry Blair's career, he has scored at least 20 points in 46 of
his 109 games. Blair has scored at least 15 points in 69 out of 109 career
games and has tallied double figures in 39-straight contests and 51 of his
last 52 games.
 
Blair has tallied double figures in 92 of his 109 career games. In addition
to Blair, only two other active NCAA Division I players are approaching
at least 100 career starts and 100 double figure scoring games. Nick
Fazekas of Nevada has 101 starts and 99 career double figure scoring
games and Jamar Wilson of Albany has 105 career starts and 93 career
double figure scoring games.

On The Brink Of History
Larry Blair is quickly climbing the Liberty and Big South Conference all-time scoring lists. Blair entered the season with 1,580 career points. Here is how Blair currently stacks up on the Liberty and Big South all-time scoring lists: 

Blair needs 225 points or to average 17.3 points per game through the Flames' remaining 13 games which includes the first round of the Big South Championship to take sole possession of the Big South career scoring title.

Blair Looks To Move Up Liberty Scoring Lists
Larry Blair needs 21 points to jump over Mark Chafin and into sole possession of third place on the Liberty all-time scoring list.

Blair Set To Break Big South Records
Larry Blair now ranks third all-time in league history with 697 field
goals made, and needs 19 to pass Radford's Doug Day (715) for secondplace.
The Big South career record is 775, held by Big South Hall of Famer
Tony Dunkin (1989-93). Blair is second all-time with 1,702 field goal
attempts, trailing Day for the top spot. Day owns the Big South record
with 1,782 career field goal attempts.

A Larry Blair First
Larry Blair fouled out for the first time in his career on Dec. 21 against
Lipscomb. It took 101 games for Blair to foul out of a game.

McLean And Big South Rebounding
Alex McLean is currently third in the Big South Conference in
rebounds with 8.5 boards per game.
McLean has grabbed at least 10 rebounds in a game seven times,
which is third best in the Big South.

Opponents Getting Hot From The Field
Eleven of the last 17 halves the Flames have allowed their opponent
to shoot better than 50 percent from the field, including a streak of
seven-straight halves which was snapped on Jan. 9 against Radford.
The Flames started the season with opponents only shooting better
than 50 percent from the field in three of 18 halves.

Opponents Getting Hot From The Field, Part 2
Oral Roberts, Florida, Winthrop, High Point and UNC Asheville are
the only three teams to shoot over 50 percent from the field in a entire
game against the Flames. Liberty had held its first 12 opponents under
50 percent.

B.J. Jenkins Named Big South New Balance Freshman of the Week
Jenkins earned the honor for the week of Nov. 27-Dec. 3 when he
averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in
Liberty's two wins, including a 64-56 victory over East Carolina. He shot
64.3 percent from the field (9-of-14), 42.9 percent from long range (3-
of-7) and 77.8 from the line (7-of-9). Jenkins scored a career-high 16
points versus Southern Virginia and added 12 points versus East
Carolina. Against the Pirates, Jenkins also grabbed three rebounds,
dished out three assists and notched three steals in 21 minutes off the
bench.

McLean Collecting Double-Doubles
Junior Alex McLean collected his seventh double-double of the season
when he scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds at High Point
on Wednesday.

Zack Jones Sees Record Fall
Assistant coach Zack Jones saw his last record fall at San Diego
State earlier this season. Jones, who played collegiatelly for three seasons
at San Diego State, saw his record for most consecutive games
scoring in double figures eclipsed by Brandon Heath on Nov. 29 when
the senior tallied double figures in points for the 33rd-consecutive time
during the Aztecs' 79-76 victory over San Diego.

January Record
Under the direction of head coach Randy Dunton, the Flames have
posted a 17-23 record during the month of January. Overall, Liberty has
posted a 138-177 record, 89-54 at home, 45-120 on the road and 4-3 at
a neutral location during the month.

This Date In Liberty History
The Flames have posted a 4-5 record on the 20th of January. In
2004 the Flames beat VMI, 66-46. In 2001, Liberty lost to Winthrop, 76-
63. In 1997, Liberty lost to UNC Greensboro, 52-46. In 1996, the Flames
won at Charleston Southern, 81-75. In 1994, the Flames beat Winthrop,
85-61. In 1990, Liberty lost Brooklyn, 84-68. In 1986, the Flames lost at
Elizabeth City State, 81-72. In 1984, the Flames beat UMBC, 82-73. In
1979, Liberty lost to Concord, 96-85.

Liberty's Offensive Output
Liberty's first two victories of the year marked the first time since the
1992-93 season the Flames have posted back-to-back 30-point wins.
The last time that Liberty accomplished the feat, the Flames downed
Averett (111-53) and Covenant (96-59) on Dec. 7 and 12, 1992.
Those games also marked the last time the Flames scored 90 points
or more in back-to-back games.

Liberty's Offensive Output, Part 2
For the first time in the program's history, Liberty won three-straight
games by at least 30 points. Liberty defeated Cincinnati Christian, 101-
65, on Nov. 21. Liberty defeated Houghton, 92-46, on Nov. 25. Liberty
defeated Southern Virginia, 109-65, on Nov. 27.

A Couple Firsts Against East Carolina
Dec. 2 marked the first time Liberty has beaten East Carolina in the
history of the series. The Pirates were victorious in the five previous
meetings until Liberty's 64-56 triumph at the Vines Center. The victory
also marked the first time Liberty has defeated a team from Conference
USA.

Blair Named To BYU Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team
Larry Blair was named to the 2006 BYU Holiday Classic all-tournament team. The four-team tournament was played Dec. 28-30 and featured host Brigham Young, Liberty, Oral Roberts and Seton Hall.

Blair averaged 20.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game during the three-day event at the Marriott Center on the Brigham Young campus in Provo, Utah.
Blair made quite the impression on his opponents during the tournament. "Larry Blair is one of the toughest players we've played against all year. Blair hit some of the toughest shots I've seen. There may be a spot for him in the leagues ahead," said Oral Roberts Head Coach Scott Sutton.
