Following his second career collegiate victory, Liberty's Alexandre Fuchs has been named this week's ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week.
Fuchs finished atop the 85-man leaderboard at last weekend's Seminole Intercollegiate. He posted a winning score of 11-under par 205 (65-65-75) at the Golden Eagle Country Club (par 72, 6,965 yards) in Tallahassee, Fla.
The tournament win was the second of his collegiate career. He shared medalist honors with fellow teammate Gabe Lench at the Intercollegiate at the Grove event, Oct. 7-9, 2018.
The native of Mouans-Sartoux, France opened the Seminole Intercollegiate with a pair of career-best rounds at 7-under par 65. His first and second round scores bested his previous career low round of 66 carded twice during the 2018-19 season (Oct. 8 at the Intercollegiate at the Grove; March 16 at Linger Longer Invitational).
Fuchs' winning score of 11-under par 205 is the junior's second lowest career 54-hole total, trailing only a 203 at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic Invite, Nov. 1-3, 2019.
The 15-team tournament field included eight teams that are currently ranked in the latest Golfstat national top-50 rankings: Oklahoma (No. 1), Oklahoma State (No. 14), Florida State (No. 17), Liberty (No. 21), North Florida (No. 29), Duke (No. 32), South Florida (No. 33) and Virginia (No. 41).
Fuchs' individual win allowed Liberty to finish in fourth place, the Flames' fourth top-five of the spring season, and rise up to No. 16 in this week's Golfstat national rankings.
On the season, Fuchs ranks second on the team with a 70.08 season stroke average. He has posted a pair of top-10 finishes and has played 6-of-12 rounds at par or better.
Today's award marks the fourth time in Fuchs' Liberty career he has been named ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week (Oct. 1, 2018, March 21, 2019 and Nov. 7, 2019).
