Football Takes to the Field to Begin Spring Practice

The first of 15 scheduled spring practice workouts for the Flames took place early, Thursday morning, at the Liberty Indoor Practice Facility.

Liberty’s nearly 100-man roster gathered inside the IPF, giving first-year head coach Jamey Chadwell and his new coaching staff their first look at their players on the field.

Head Football Strength and Conditioning Coach Chad Scott has spent the last two months working the Flames out in the weight room to prepare them for the transition to Chadwell’s offensive and defensive schemes.

"I’ve seen a lot of progress with our team connecting,” commented Chadwell about the early offseason workouts. “We are laying the foundation we want to have, starting today with our first practice. We are trying to lay out the objectives for this team and what we are trying to accomplish and who we want to be in all three phases as far as how we play the game.”

Prior to the morning workout, Chadwell met with the local media to discuss his expectations and goals for the Flames during the spring practice workouts season.

The Flames will return to the practice field tomorrow for their second spring practice session before taking a break for Liberty University’s annual Spring Break week (March 12-18).

Liberty will resume its practice schedule on Tuesday, March 21, with the first of three practices that week. All of Liberty’s spring practice workouts are closed to the general public.

The Flames will cap off their spring practice season with Liberty’s annual Spring Football Game on Saturday, April 15. This event is free and open to the public and gets underway at 1:30 p.m. inside Williams Stadium.
