Flames Tennis Adds Pelletier from South Carolina
The Liberty Flames men’s tennis team has announced the addition of transfer Beau Pelletier for the 2022-23 school year.
“We are so excited to work with Beau and welcome him to the Liberty family,” said Liberty Men’s Tennis Head Coach Derek Schwandt. “He is a passionate competitor who will encourage and challenge everyone around him to maximize the day.”
Pelletier, who hails from Hilton Head, South Carolina, has spent the past four seasons competing for the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Gamecocks (23-7, 10-2 SEC) finished the 2022 season as the No. 10-ranked team in the nation.
During his time at South Carolina, Pelletier was nationally ranked in doubles and singles. He was tabbed the No. 120 player in the country in singles on Dec. 8, 2021 and earned a No. 56 doubles ranking with partner Thomas Brown on Dec. 13, 2019.
Pelletier posted a 44-33 combined singles record and 32-28 doubles mark in his four years at South Carolina. He won 21 singles matches as a redshirt freshman during the 2018-19 campaign and claimed 15 doubles matches that year as well.
Pelletier and the Gamecocks reached the quarterfinals at the NCAA Men’s Tennis Team Championship in 2022 and made the Sweet 16 in 2021. Pelletier is a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete (2019 and 2020) and three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll (2019-21) recipient.
Prior to coming to South Carolina, Pelletier began his collegiate career at Clemson during the 2017-18 season. Entering college, he was a five-star recruit and ranked as high as No. 22 in the nation and No. 4 in South Carolina in the class of 2017 by tennisrecruiting.net.
