Flames Making Late Charge at General Hackler Championship
Play was delayed for two-plus hours on Sunday morning, keeping the 15-team field at the General Hackler Championship from completing its second round.
No. 39 Liberty is currently having one of the better second trips around The Dunes Golf & Beach Club (par 72, 7,233 yards), Sunday afternoon.
Liberty is in fifth place at 1-over par overall and is 12 strokes behind clubhouse leader and No. 18 ranked Auburn (11-under par).
The Flames had the third-best second round before play was halted as Liberty is 3-under par during the afternoon flight with between three to six holes left to play.
Due to a two-plus hour delay to start the first round of action because of cold weather and a frost (27 degrees at the original 7:40 a.m. tee time), the 15-team field was unable to complete the second round.
The teams will return to the course to finish the second round on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. before concluding the day with the third and final round.
Kieran Vincent is leading the charge for the Flames. The redshirt senior is currently tied for seventh place with an overall 3-under par with six holes left to play. Vincent has a clean card during the afternoon flight with 10 pars and two birdies.
Austin Duncan, who opened the day with a 1-under par 71, is currently tied for 14th place at even par with five holes left to play.
