Flames Climb Leaderboard During Round 2 of Gator Invitational

2/12/2021 12:00:00 AM | Men's Golf

When play was suspended during round two of the Gator Invitational presented by VyStar on Friday, the Flames were the hottest team on the golf course.

With roughly six holes of play left during the second round, Liberty finds itself in second place at 17-under par thanks to its a 13-under pace during the second round on the Mark Bostick Golf Course (par 70, 6,701 yards).

The Flames are posting the best score during the second round in the 21-team field, which will be Liberty's toughest regular season test in 2021.

The field features nine teams that are currently ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll, which was released earlier today: Vanderbilt (2), Tennessee (4), Georgia (6), Arkansas (12), Auburn (13), Alabama (17), Florida (19), South Carolina (20) and North Florida (24).

Liberty's Ervin Chang is leading the Flames second-round charge. The senior is in second place with an overall score of 8-under par, thanks to a 7-under par score through 15 holes of play during his second round.

Play is scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. tomorrow with the intent to finish the previously scheduled three-day, 54-hole event on Saturday due to forecasted inclement weather.
