Academic honors continue to roll in for Liberty’s Austin Duncan who has been named to the 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Men’s At-Large team.

Firstteam Academic AllDistrict® honorees advance to the 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic AllAmerica® ballot. First, second and thirdteam Academic AllAmerica® honorees will be announced in midJune.

Duncan is the first player in men’s golf program history to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® Men’s At-Large team.

Last month, Duncan was named the 2022 ASUN Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was selected to the ASUN Men’s Golf All-Academic team.

A grad transfer from North Greenville, Duncan has posted a 71.69 season stroke average and has played 50.0 percent of his rounds at par or better (18-of-36). He leads the team with 10 sub-70 rounds and ranks No. 108 in the country in pars per round (11.58).

Duncan was a PING GCAA All-American (second team) at North Greenville, last year, and finished the 2020-21 season ranked No. 6 in the country.

During his first season with the Flames, Duncan has also been named to the ASUN All-Conference first team. The native of York, S.C., earned ASUN All-Championship honors following a runner-up finish at the ASUN Men’s Golf Championship in April.

Duncan helped Liberty secure its third-straight trip to the NCAA Men’s Golf National Championship with a 1-under par 215 (75-71-69) showing at last week’s NCAA Stockton Regional.

Duncan jumpstarted a back-nine rally for the Flames when he aced the par-3, No. 15 hole (179 yards) followed by a birdie at the par-5, No. 16 hole (535 yards).

Liberty closed its final four holes of the Regional at 6-under par, while LSU was 4-over on its final two holes, allowing the Flames to leapfrog the Tigers for fifth and final national qualifying spot at the NCAA Stockton Regional.

Duncan and the Flames will start their quest to win the 2022 NCAA Men’s Golf National Championship on Friday morning. Liberty tees off at 7:27 a.m. PST from the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., for the first round of the national championship.
