    Four members of the ASUN champion Liberty women’s cross country squad have been voted to the ASUN All-Academic Team. Individual champion Calli Doan repeated as ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was joined on the All-Academic Team by teammates Adelyn Ackley, Anna Hostetler and Noel Palmer.

    Doan, who earned the same honor during the spring 2021 season, is the first back-to-back winner of this award since North Florida’s Eden Meyer in 2016 and 2017. Hostetler and Palmer were All-Academic honorees for the second consecutive season, while Ackley collected her first career ASUN All-Academic Team recognition.

    A native of Apex, N.C., Doan owns a 3.99 GPA as an exercise science major. Her winning 5K time of 16:57.4 at the ASUN Cross Country Championships set a program record and ranks No. 2 in meet history. She earned first team All-ASUN honors for the fourth consecutive season. Doan was named ASUN Runner of the Week on Oct. 19 after placing seventh at the FSU XC Invite/Pre-Nationals with a 6K time of 20:05.0 that ranks No. 2 in program history.

    Ackley boasts a 3.67 GPA in zoo and wildlife biology. The Mears, Mich., native placed third at the ASUN Cross Country Championships after recording back-to-back individual titles in 2019 and Spring 2021. Her 5K time of 17:00.4 at the ASUN meet ranks No. 2 in program history and No. 6 in meet history. Ackley was a two-time ASUN Runner of the Week (Sept. 14 & Sept. 28) this season. She set a Liberty 6K record with her 20:04.9 clocking for sixth place at the FSU XC Invite/Pre-Nationals.

    Hostetler, who hails from Parnell, Iowa, is an English education major with a 4.0 GPA. She came in sixth at the ASUN Cross Country Championships with a 5K personal-best time of 17:17.1, earning first team All-ASUN honors. Hostetler also lowered her 6K best to 21:16.2 at the FSU XC Invite/Pre-Nationals this season.

    Palmer, a biology education major carrying a 4.0 GPA, is from nearby Forest, Va. She came in 12th at the ASUN Cross Country Championships to earn All-ASUN honors for the third time in her career (also 2018 and Spring 2021). Palmer is now a six-time ASUN All-Academic Team member during her career, including cross country and track & field.

    No. 27 Liberty will return to the course at Friday’s NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships, with berths to the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on the line. The women’s 6K race will begin at 11 a.m. and the men’s 10K will follow at noon, with both races being contested at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
