ASUN Release

Liberty junior Delaney Dilfer has been named the ASUN Volleyball Setter of the Week after an outstanding weekend of volleyball.

A native of Austin, Texas, Dilfer is the first Liberty player to be named ASUN Setter of the Week all-time. This is the first year that the ASUN has offered setter of the week honors. Dilfer is the first player in ASUN history to be named ASUN Freshman of the Week (Jan. 26 and Feb. 2, 2021), Player of the Week (Oct. 11, 2021) and ASUN Setter of the Week (Sept. 6, 2022) in her career. She received Freshman of the Week and Player of the Week honors during her time at Lipscomb prior to transferring to Liberty.

Named Top Setter at Liberty's home tournament, she had Liberty's offense clicking on all cylinders, dishing out 12.80 assists per set while adding 0.50 aces per set, 3.10 digs per set and 0.7 blocks per set. The Lady Flames hit .275 as a team, scoring 15.10 kills per set during the weekend.

On Friday against Winthrop, she posted a double-double with a Liberty Arena-record-tying 52 assists, one ace, 10 digs and two block assists, helping Liberty to a 3-1 win over the Eagles. During Saturday's 3-0 sweep of UNCW, she dished out 40 assists while adding two aces and six digs, helping Liberty hit a season-best .352 with 48 kills for the match.

On Saturday afternoon, Dilfer totaled 36 assists and two aces while setting new career highs in both digs (15) and blocks (5) in a 3-0 sweep of Murray State.

As a result of this weekend's stats, Dilfer leads the ASUN and ranks eighth in the nation with 11.52 assists per set.

The Lady Flames (4-2) will head to California for the first time since 2010, competing at the UC San Diego Tournament in La Jolla, Calif., Friday and Saturday. Liberty will face the host Tritons (5-1) and Pacific (3-3) on Friday before facing new Mexico (4-1) on Saturday.
