Bryan, Scott Post Personal-Best Day 1 Scores in California

Liberty’s duo of Anthony Bryan (3,688 decathlon) and Myiah Scott (2,748 heptathlon) each recorded their best-ever day one scores on Wednesday, the opening day of the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific’s Cougar Athletic Stadium.
Bryan’s 3,688 points have him in sixth place in Group A (top seeded section) at the midway point of the decathlon. The sophomore from Destin, Fla., established new personal bests in three of his five disciplines on the day, including the 100 (11.13), long jump (22-8) and 400 (51.45).
Scott sits in fourth place in Group C of the heptathlon with her 2,748 points. A sophomore from Farmington, Minn., Scott opened her morning with a personal-best 15.33 clocking in the 100 hurdles. She then high jumped 5-1 to finish just one centimeter shy of her lifetime best.
Flames Daniel Van Duren and Zach Wendt both began the decathlon on Wednesday, but neither was able to complete all five events.

The Bryan Clay Invitational decathlon and heptathlon will wrap up on Thursday. Scott will be the first Flame in action, beginning day two of her heptathlon competition with the long jump at 11:30 a.m. Eastern. Bryan will get the second day of his decathlon going at 5 p.m. Eastern with the 110 hurdles.
