Brooks Places 21st in NCAA 100 Dash Quarterfinals

Isis Brooks wrapped up her impressive first season at Liberty and the Flames’ stay at the 2022 NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet with a 21^st-place finish in the women’s 100 quarterfinals, Saturday evening at the Robert C. Haugh Complex.

Brooks clocked a time of 11.59 for eighth place in her heat and 21^st place overall between the three quarterfinal heats. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native became the first Lady Flame ever to compete in the NCAA quarterfinal round in the women’s 100, thanks to her performance during Thursday’s first round.

Brooks’ first year in Lynchburg was headlined by her victory in the ASUN women’s 100 final, when she clocked a Liberty and ASUN Conference all-time record 11.35.

Liberty finishes the four-day NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet with seven qualifiers to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the second most in program history. The Flames will be represented in Eugene by Ayanna Johnson (women’s long jump), Kevin Nedrick (men’s discus), Kennedy Sauder (men’s high jump) and the men’s 4 x 100 relay squad of Brandon Letts, Donald McClinton, Christian Lyon and Diamantae Griffin.
