BIG EAST Release

The Liberty field hockey team’s Jill Bolton and Jodie Conolly each garnered inclusion on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for their play in a pair of wins last week.

Bolton is being honored for the second time this season in the BIG EAST Weekly Awards after she earned offensive player of the week honors on Aug. 31. The senior forward scored two goals and had one assist, five points and 16 shots in No. 12 Liberty’s victories over Georgetown and William & Mary.

Bolton scored in the 21st minute of a 5-1 win at Georgetown on Friday. She led all players with nine shots in the game. On Sunday at home versus William & Mary, Bolton was involved in both Lady Flames goals in a 2-0 triumph over the Tribe.

The Souderton, Pa., native assisted on Maddie Hosler’s penalty corner goal in the eighth minute and scored a goal at the 42:07 mark on a feed from Ashley Dykema-Pereira. Bolton’s goal, her team-best seventh of the season, was the 49th of her career. She needs one more goal to become the third player in school history with 50 or more career goals. Bolton also ranks third in program history with 129 career points and needs seven more to become the program’s all-time leader.

Conolly is being recognized by the BIG EAST for the first time this season and second time during her Liberty career. She earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll status for the first time during the spring season (April 5). The junior defender tallied one goal, one assist and three points in contests versus Georgetown and William & Mary.

Conolly assisted on Reagan Underwood’s goal in the 20th minute at Georgetown and scored on a penalty corner at 55:51 to give Liberty its fifth and final goal of the game. Conolly and the Liberty defense shut out William & Mary on Sunday, holding the Tribe to two penalty corners and nine total shots.

Bolton, Conolly and No. 12 Liberty (5-2, 1-0 BIG EAST) will host No. 16 Connecticut (4-4, 1-0 BIG EAST) in BIG EAST action, Friday at 3 p.m. at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.
