Berkman Recognized as ASUN Winner for Life
Liberty women’s basketball center Mya Berkman has been named to the ASUN Conference’s 2021-22 Winter Winners for Life team. Announced today, the team is composed of one student-athlete from each of the conference’s 12 institutions and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.
The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
A native of Marble Falls, Texas, Berkman graduated in May 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, maintaining a 3.80 GPA during her undergraduate studies. She currently owns a 3.93 GPA as she pursues a master’s degree in accounting. She was Liberty’s first-ever ASUN Conference Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District Team® recognition.
On the court, Berkman was the leading scorer (12.3 ppg) and rebounder (7.4 rpg) for a team which tied a program record with 28 victories and won a WNIT game for the first time in program history. A first team All-ASUN performer, Berkman was named co-MVP of the Navy Classic.
