In anticipation of the best home football schedule in program history, Liberty Athletics will be making several renovations to Williams Stadium prior to the 2022 season.

The renovation plans include new seating options, including a seating upgrade for nearly every non-student seat in the stadium.

All seats on the West side of the stadium will be upgraded to chairback seating, and all seats on the upper East side of the stadium will be upgraded to benchback seating.

At the South end zone, 23 cabanas will be added above a newly graded berm with additional space for students and overflow seating.

Complete with seating for eight and a roof to keep the sun and weather out, each cabana will be furnished with a TV, fan, heater, and waiter service. A cabana could be the perfect space for your family or clients to cheer on the Flames!

“The 2022 football season will be the most anticipated in Liberty history,” commented Ian McCaw, Liberty Director of Athletics. “Between welcoming Virginia Tech and BYU to Williams Stadium, coupled with regular and premium seating and hospitality improvements, Flames fans will be in for a treat.”

    2022 Football Season Ticket Information
Liberty’s 2022 home football schedule is spotlighted by games against ACC and in-state foe Virginia Tech on Nov. 19 and future Big 12 Conference member BYU on Oct. 22.

The 2022 home slate opens with a Sept. 10 matchup against UAB, who finished the 2021 season 9-4 after knocking off No. 12 BYU in the Independence Bowl. The Flames will also host Akron (Sept. 24), Gardner-Webb (Oct. 15) and New Mexico State (Nov. 26).

With enhanced seating and premium hospitality options, season tickets will go on sale to Flames Club members and 2021 football season ticket holders at Noon, EST on Monday, January 24.

Starting at just $120 (Benchback and Chairback), season tickets offer a discount of as much as 51 percent off single game tickets. Liberty’s other season ticket seating options include Member ($170), Premium Member ($200), Club ($435) and Luxury Indoor Club ($860).

Liberty’s new South end zone cabanas, which includes seating for eight, will be priced at $4,000 for the 2022 season.

“Our fans have created an unbelievable home field advantage at Williams Stadium,” stated Liberty Head Football Coach Hugh Freeze. “We’re counting on you to be there as we face our toughest opponents yet!”

With the anticipated high interest in the matchup against Virginia Tech, the Flames Ticket Office does not expect to sell single-game tickets for the game against the Hokies because Flames Nation will purchase all available season tickets.

The guaranteed way for Flames Nation to watch Liberty take on Virginia Tech at Williams Stadium in 2022 will be to purchase season tickets.

To purchase season tickets, contact the Ticket Office via phone or text at (434) 592-5015, or via email at tickets@liberty.edu.

    Flames Club Three-Year Loyalty Program
Along with today’s Williams Stadium renovations and the 2022 football season ticket prices, the Flames Club introduced a new loyalty program to its membership that has exceeded 4,000 members for the first time in school history.

Beginning with the 2022 football and 2022-23 basketball seasons, Flames Club members will be able to have first right of refusal on their season ticket locations on a rolling three-year basis.

Members will have the option to keep the seats you selected for the 2022 football season, for 2023, and for 2024 if you desire. This Loyalty Seating Plan, established to allow fans to “keep their seats” for a specific period of time, was developed on the principles of Loyalty, Choice, and Recognition.

2021 Recap: Completing the Bowl Game Three-Peat
The Flames capped off an 8-5 season in 2021 with a convincing 56-20 win over Eastern Michigan in the LendingTree Bowl on a nationally televised game on ESPN in Mobile, Ala., on Dec. 18.

Liberty is just one of five FBS teams in the country who have won a bowl game each of the last three seasons, joining Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky and Louisiana.

Liberty, in its third year of full FBS eligibility, earned its third straight bowl victory. The Flames, who also won the FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl in 2019 and 2020, join Appalachian State (2015-20) as the only teams to win bowl games in each of their first three years after transitioning to FBS from FCS.

Liberty has now won eight or more games for the 13th season in program history, including all three seasons under Flames Head Football Coach Hugh Freeze.
