Six members of Liberty’s NCAA-qualifying women’s cross country squad were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Team on Thursday. Additionally, both the Flames and Lady Flames were recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams for their overall academic success as a program.

The Lady Flames' honorees included Adelyn Ackley, Emma Bower, Calli Doan, Grace Dwyer, Marie Hostetler and Noel Palmer. They helped Coach Rachel Johnson’s women’s cross country squad post a team cumulative GPA of 3.74. Meanwhile, Coach Isaac Wendland’s Flames own a team GPA of 3.25.

Ackley is a sophomore from Mears, Mich., with a 3.67 GPA as a zoo and wildlife biology major. She won her second consecutive ASUN individual title and placed a team-best 66th at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.

Bower is a junior from Powell, Ohio, with a 3.39 GPA as a Christian leadership major. She earned second team All-ASUN honors for the second year in a row with an 11th-place conference finish.

Doan is a junior from Apex, N.C., with a 4.0 GPA as an exercise science major. She placed second to Ackley at the ASUN meet for the second consecutive season and is now a three-time first team All-ASUN performer. Doan also came in 85th at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.

Dwyer is a redshirt senior from Mercerville, N.J., with a 4.0 GPA as she pursues a master’s degree in strategic communications. She placed third at the ASUN meet during her first year as a Flame, earning her fourth career top-10 finish at a cross country championship.

Hostetler is a freshman from Parnell, Iowa, with a 4.0 GPA as a special education major. She came in eighth at the conference meet, earning spots on the second team All-ASUN squad and the ASUN All-Freshman Team.

Palmer is a redshirt junior from Forest, Va., with a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. Her seventh-place conference finish makes her a two-time first team All-ASUN runner for her career.

Doan was previously named ASUN Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year this spring and was joined on the ASUN All-Academic Team by Dwyer, Anna Hostetler and Palmer.
