3 Named to CSC Academic All-District® Football Team
Three Liberty football players had their efforts in the classroom recognized today as they were named to the 2022 CSC Academic All-District® football team.
Tight end Michael Bollinger, kicker Jason Stricker and wide receiver CJ Yarbrough were each named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® football team.
With their selections, the trio of players moves onto the national ballot where they will be eligible for selection to the CSC Academic All-America® Team. The 2022 CSC Academic All-America® Division I Football Team will be announced late December.
Liberty has had 12 CSC Academic All-America® Division I Football Team selections in program history, including long snapper Hunter Winstead earning first-team honors in 2017.
Bollinger is one of six players on Liberty’s roster who have played 50 or more career games in a Flames uniform. The native of Spartanburg, S.C., will play in his 55th career game on Saturday against New Mexico State. He has started three games in 2022 at tight end and has three receptions for 22 yards, including a four-yard touchdown at UMass.
Stricker has served as Liberty’s starter on kickoffs for the last 16 games and will play in his 20th career game on Saturday. The native of Waxhaw, N.C., is averaging 62.4 yards per kickoff and 63.3 percent of his kickoffs have resulted in a touchback (38-of-60).
After opting out for the 2021 season to focus his time on the ROTC program, Yarbrough has returned the lineup in 2022 to rank fourth on the team with 13 receptions for 200 yards.
The native of Tanner, Ala., joins Demario Douglas and Treon Sibley as the only three players on Liberty’s roster with multiple touchdown receptions. He totaled a career-high 94 receiving yards during Liberty’s road win at Old Dominion.
