3 Flames Named to 2021 ASUN All-Academic Team
Liberty’s Seth Clark, Noah Holmes and Malik Smith have been named to the 2021 ASUN Men’s Soccer All-Academic team, the ASUN Conference announced this afternoon.
Smith earns his second selection to the team, while Clark and Holmes were selected to the team for the first time in their careers.
Smith, a senior, has played in all 15 Liberty contests with 14 starts at center defender. The Brampton, Ontario native leads the Flames in minutes played, having played 1,236 minutes or 82.4 minutes per game, this fall. He is one of only five Liberty players to play over 1,000 minutes.
Smith, who also was named to the 2021 Spring ASUN All-Academic team, posted a 3.77 GPA in the classroom and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Currently, he holds a 4.0 GPA, while pursuing a master’s degree in sports management. He has earned inclusion on the ASUN Academic Honor Roll each of his previous two years at Liberty.
Clark has also played in all 15 Liberty contests with 14 starts, this season. The sophomore midfielder from Darfield, New Zealand is currently leading the Flames and is second in the ASUN Conference with six assists. Clark also has scored a goal and enters the weekend with eight points The midfielder is one of five Flames to play over 1,000 minutes, averaging 70 minutes per match this fall.
Off the field, Clark holds a 3.65 GPA as a psychology major and has been a member of the ASUN Academic Honor Roll each of his two previous two seasons at Liberty.
In 13 starts, Holmes enters the week leading the Flames with six goals and 14 points. The sophomore also has two assists. The forward is currently tied for third in the ASUN in goals and is tied for fourth in the conference in points. In addition, the Apex, N.C., native, who has averaged 70 minutes per game, is tied for second in the conference with a 1.08 points per game average.
Holmes holds a 3.95 GPA while majoring in business administration. In addition, he has earned inclusion on the ASUN Academic Honor Roll in each of his two years at Liberty.
Lipscomb senior Noah Golden was selected the ASUN Men’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second time.
