Tim Venus

Title: Graphic Design & Social Media Graduate Assistant

Tim Venus assumed his position of Graphic Design & Social Media Graduate Assistant in Sept. 2018.

In his current positon, Venus is responsible for actively increasing social media following and engagement, creatively telling the unique stories of Liberty Athletics through social media and supporting the digital and graphic design needs of the marketing and communications departments. He also assists with developing social media promotions that lead to revenue generation, the day-to-day management for main athletics social media accounts and collaborating with other external departments to accomplish department goals.

Prior to coming to Liberty, Venus served as a Media Relations Assistant at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Fla. from January-May 2018, the host site of Major League Baseball's St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins Spring Training plus Advanced-A affiliates. He managed the Jupiter Hammerheads' brand of voice on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts, in addition to designing visual materials including: static graphics, head shots, short video clips and sponsor-related content. Venus also programmed and controlled Daktronics, content/display studio, videoboard, tri-caster and the sound board for all Spring Training and Florida State League games. Additionally, he drafted game recaps, game notes, lineup cards and bi-weekly feature articles.

Venus also gained experience as a sports photojournalist for WXOW-TV 19 and WKBT-TV 8 in La Crescent, Minn. in 2016 and 2017, where he filmed high school, college and professional sporting events and conducted player interviews. Venus also gained valuable experience in the sports industry as a Training Camp Equipment Intern for the Cleveland Browns (July-August 2017) and a Ticket Sales Intern for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (May-August 2016).

Venus graduated with a bachelor's degree in sport management with a minor in professional & technical writing from Wisconsin-La Crosse in May 2018. Venus is currently pursuing a master's degree in sports marketing and media, which he expects to complete in May 2020.

Venus and his wife, Emily, currently reside in Lynchburg.
