Head coach Brant Tolsma will send three Liberty men's athletes to Des Moines, Iowa for the 2011 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Before Liberty departs for Des Moines, Iowa and the 2011 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Nick Pierce caught up with redshirt senior distance standout Sam Chelanga and head coach Brant Tolsma.
Chelanga is one of three Liberty Flames who will compete in Des Moines, joining Elliot Galeone (men's javelin) and Kolby Shepherd (men's pole vault). The meet will be contested at Drake Stadium, June 8-11.
Chelanga, entered in both the 5K and 10K events, will aim to defend his NCAA national championship in the 10K. The 11-time All-American will run the 10K on June 9 at 9:50 p.m. Eastern. He will then compete in the 5K on June 11 at 2:21 p.m. Eastern, in a race that will be televised live nationally on CBS.
Galeone and Shepherd will both compete on June 8, with Galeone throwing the javelin at 4:05 p.m. Eastern and Shepherd pole vaulting at 6:35 p.m.
