Today's Flames Minute: Friday

This is your Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Soundz Hearing in Lynchburg, for this Friday, October 30, 2020, I'm Nick Pierce.

Flames football enters the bye week at a perfect 6-0, which ties the best start in program history. On a normal year, that would mean Liberty is bowl eligible. However, this year, the NCAA Division I Council has waived bowl eligibility requirements due to COVID-19 effects on team schedules. Here's Liberty Athletics Director Ian McCaw with the latest on bowl season.

"We remain very hopeful that we'll have a chance to advance to a postseason bowl game for the second straight year. We expect that ESPN is going to make an announcement in the next few days, as to the actual bowl lineup. How many bowls will be played? I think the number will be in the mid 30's and I do expect there'll be some differences in terms of how the bowl games are played. I think there'll be some restricted attendance in certain bowl games. I think there could be some where there are no fans at all."

Last year, Liberty on the Cure Bowl in it's first-ever bowl appearance.
