Today's Flames Minute: Tuesday

This is your Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Church Mutual Insurance, for this Tuesday, March 24, 2020, I'm Nick Pierce.

Postseason honors are starting to roll in for Flames Athletics. Monday, Liberty Men's Basketball Head Coach Ritchie McKay was named the National Association of Basketball Coach's Coach of the Year. It's the first Coach of the Year award for Liberty in it's Division I era. Also, Flames senior guard Caleb Homesley was named to the NABC's District Three, first team. Homesley is the first Flame to make the All-District first team since Anthony Smith in 2009. This season, McKay and Homesley led the Flames to a second straight ASUN Championship and a school record 30 wins.

And Liberty field hockey players Allison Schaefer and Kira Short were recognized as National Field Hockey Coaches Association Scholars of Distinction on Monday. Each student-athlete received the honor for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of this school year.
