Today's Flames Minute: Thursday
Brought to you by Church Mutual Insurance, for this Thursday, March 19, 2020, I'm Nick Pierce.
With the cancellation of the NCAA's winter and spring sports championships and the spring season for conferences around the nation, the big question is now will senior student athletes get an extra year of eligibility? On Wednesday, Liberty Director of Athletics Ian McCaw was asked that very question.
"We had an AD update call with Mark Emmert and the NCAA staff, yesterday on that. Final decisions have not been made, although, there does seem to be some desire to provide spring sport student athletes with an extra year of eligibility. So, we'll see if that, in fact, unfolds. There could be a decision on that as early as next week."
The COVID-19 virus has forced stoppages of collegiate and professional sports around the world. Flames fans who had purchased tickets through the Liberty Ticket Office to one of the 14 remaining Flames baseball home games will be contacted by phone or with more information.
