Liberty Athletics Sets Record with Highest GPA in Department History Following the Fall Semester
The Flames made the most of their first year in the ASUN Conference.

Liberty, who posted its fifth 40-win season in program history, made its sixth NCAA Regional appearance after capturing the ASUN Championship in 2019.

The Flames won a program-record 29 games during the 2018-19 season, headlined by their first NCAA Tournament victory in program history, a first-round triumph over Mississippi State.

The Lady Flames won 12 out of their last 16 games during the 2018-19 season to earn the No. 3 seed in the ASUN Women’s Basketball Championship where they made their first-ever title game appearance.

Looking to improve upon a pair of runner-up finishes in the ASUN Conference during their inaugural season, Liberty’s men’s and women’s cross country teams raced four times within the Commonwealth of Virginia during the 2019 season.
The Flames qualified for the 2019 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship for the second time in program history where they tied for 20th place as a team and finished the season ranked No. 22 in the final Golfstat national rankings.

Liberty finished the 2019 season with a 10-8 overall record and a 5-2 mark in the BIG EAST, qualifying for the BIG EAST Championship for a fourth straight season. The Lady Flames finished No. 19 in the final NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll and No. 20 in the NCAA Field Hockey RPI.
The Flames football program capped off the most memorable year in Liberty Athletics history with a win over Georgia Southern in the 2019 FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl. With the win, Liberty became the third FBS transitioning team in NCAA history to win a bowl game during its first full season at the FBS level.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Kelly Findley, the men’s soccer team qualified for the ASUN Men’s Soccer Championship during the Flames second season in the league.
The Lady Flames reached the 10-win mark for the seventh time in the last eight seasons and tied for the ASUN Conference lead with six league victories.
During their first year in the league, the Flames made their presence known with a runner-up finish in the ASUN Conference and by sending its second player to the NCAA Championship.

The Lady Flames served their way to the top of the ASUN Conference standings during Liberty’s first season as a part of the league, earning a share of the ASUN regular season title.

Despite a move to a new conference, Liberty’s track & field program continued to dominate during its first indoor season in the ASUN Conference.

Liberty made it a clean sweep during its first year in the ASUN Conference, winning both the men’s and women’s outdoor track & field titles before sending a record number of participants to the NCAA Championships.

Perlaza Zapata Takes Fifth in NCAA 400 Final, Becoming Liberty’s Fourth All-American at the National Championship
The Lady Flames reached the National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC) Championship Round for the second time in three years after winning the NISC Lynchburg Regional title.

ASUN: 16-5 (2nd Place)
The Lady Flames posted their first 20-win season since 2014 and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. Liberty was the only NCAA Division I team in 2019 to have three 100-block players, a 1,000-assist player, a 450-kill player and a 550-dig player.
Liberty won a program-record 14 games on its way to the ASUN Championship title game during its first season in the conference.

The Lady Flames finished off their first-ever undefeated season in program history by capturing the CCSA Championship title for the first time since 2014.
