Muamba now has 28 career singles victories as a Liberty Flame.
Flames junior Nicaise Muamba picked up his second singles victory of the weekend on day two of the South Carolina Gamecock Fall Invitational (Gamecock Ranked + 1) on Saturday at the Carolina Tennis Center.
"Overall, it was a positive day for us. Slow start to our doubles, but that's why we are here getting matches in. Our attitude, effort and controllables were great, and I'm proud of these two guys for that," stated Flames assistant coach Trevor Foshey. "Nic took care of business in singles and got better. Tomorrow we have another day to push ourselves to be better than the previous day, and I can't wait to see what they will bring. Go Flames!"
Muamba, the No. 65-ranked singles player in the nation, is now 2-1 in singles this weekend following a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win against Wake Forest's Yuval Solomon in the White singles draw. He will meet South Carolina's Beau Pelletier in singles on Sunday.
Wilson did not compete in a singles match on Saturday. The Liberty sophomore won by walkover and will take on Miami's Franco Aubone tomorrow.
In doubles, Muamba and Wilson fell to North Carolina's Brian Cernoch and Joshua Peck by an 8-4 score. The duo dropped an 8-6 decision to Miami's Benjamin Hannestad and Adria Soriano Barrera in its second match of the day.
The third and final day of the tournament will commence at 8 a.m., Sunday, and will feature one round of doubles and one round of singles.
