Muamba Falls to Knight on Day 2 of ITF Canada F7 Futures

Liberty's Nicaise Muamba came up short in his match on Sunday at the ITF Canada F7 Futures tournament, losing 6-2, 6-1 to Alexander Knight at the Aviva Centre.

Knight advances to the 32-player main draw, while Muamba sees his run at the event come to a close. The Flames sophomore, currently playing in his first year at Liberty, finished with a 2-1 record in two days of competition at this event.

Knight, who played his college tennis at Michigan (2014-18) and reached as high as No. 3 in the nation in singles during the 2017-18 season, topped Muamba one week ago as well in qualifying at the ITF Canada F6 Futures in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.

During the previous matchup, Muamba took Knight took a tiebreaker in the first set before losing in two sets, 7-6 (4), 6-0.

Muamba wraps up his first two events of the season (ITF Canada F6 Futures, ITF Canada Canada F7 Futures) with a 3-2 record.

Muamba's teammates are concluding their first fall tournament of the season at the Silverado Invitational, hosted by Oklahoma State, in Napa, Calif.

The Flames will be back in action at the Liberty University Invitational, next Friday through Sunday at the Cook Tennis Center.
