Muamba picked up two wins on Saturday.
Flames men's tennis sophomore Nicaise Muamba won both of his qualifying matches on Saturday at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Canada F7 Futures event.
Muamba opened the day with a straight-sets win against Canada's Andre Szilvassy (6-4, 6-1) at the Aviva Centre. Muamba, who hails from Canada, then faced off against the United States' A.J. Catanzariti, who received a bye in the first round of qualifying. He once again outplayed his opponent, prevailing in two sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Muamba will face Alexander Knight of the United States on Sunday, with the winner advancing to the singles main draw of 32 players. Sunday's bout between Muamba and Knight will be a rematch from last weekend's ITF Canada F6 Futures tournament.
Knight, an ITA All-American in 2018 at Michigan and who finished the year at No. 19 in the nation in the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings, bested Muamba in a second round qualifying match six days ago (7-6 (4), 6-0).
Muamba's record stands at 3-1 overall on the year in the two ITF Futures events he has competed in.
