7 Lady Flames Named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

Seven Liberty softball student-athletes recently gained mention as All-America Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

The All-America Scholar-Athlete award is given to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade-point average or higher during the 2011-12 academic year.

Outfielder Meredith Crisante, a 2012 graduate with a special education degree, was named an All-America Scholar-Athlete. Four Lady Flames sophomores earned the award, in pitcher Alyssa DiMartino (exercise science), catcher Sydnei Lester (studio art), utility player Grace Nordan (kinesiology) and shortstop Sammi Shivock (exercise science). Freshmen Amber Donovan, an exercise science major, and Megan Robinson, who is undecided on a major, received All-America Scholar-Athlete mention as well.

Earlier this fall, the Lady Flames earned the NFCA All-Academic Team award. Liberty softball posted a team GPA of 3.43 during the 2011-12 academic year, while finishing 20th among NCAA Division I softball squads in overall GPA.
