Nick Pierce of the Flames Sports Network recently caught up with Liberty Volleyball Head Coach Shane Pinder, following the Lady Flames' Big South championship victory. No. 1 seed Liberty claimed its conference-record seventh Big South Volleyball Championship title, and second in a row, with a 3-1 victory over No. 2 seed Coastal Carolina in the conference final on Sunday. The Lady Flames receive the Big South's automatic qualifying berth into the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, which is set to begin on Nov. 29.
Jade Craycraft was named Big South Tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by Caroline Douglas and Loren Thomas. Last Wednesday, the Lady Flames swept the conference's major awards. Douglas was named both Big South Player of the Year and Big South Freshman of the Year. Pinder earned his third Big South Coach of the Year award, while Becca Haraf was voted Big South Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
