For the second time in three weeks, Liberty's Niklas Lindstrom has been named the Big South Men's Golf of the Week, honoring his efforts at the Rees Jones Invitational.
On Sept. 20, Lindstrom received the same accolade following a third-place finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational in Toledo, Ohio.
This time around, Lindstrom claimed individual medalist honors, winning the Rees Jones Invitational by six strokes with a three-under par 213 (73-70-70).
Lindstrom finished a half dozen shots ahead of four golfers, including fellow teammates Chase Marinell, Ian McConnell and Max McKay.
With the Flames placing four of their five golfers in the top five of the 63-man field, Liberty easily captured the program's 22nd Division I team victory.
The Flames won the Rees Jones by 24 strokes after firing a six-over par 870 (284-290-296). Tournament host South Carolina finished a distant second with a 30-over par 894 (298-303-293).
The medalist honor marked the second time Lindstrom has finished atop the leaderboard at a collegiate event. Last year, the junior finished tied for first place at the Trojan Fall Classic.
Lindstrom's three-under par 213 marked the fifth collegiate event the Kalmar, Sweden, native has finished in red figures.
Lindstrom and the rest of the Flames will close out the fall portion of the men's golf program's 2012-13 season on Oct. 13-14 at the Rod Myers Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Duke at its own The Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
