Preseason honors continue to roll in for Liberty's football players, with Malcolm Boyd and Kevin Fogg both being named to the Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America teams earlier this week.
Fogg was named a first-team All-American as a kickoff return specialist by the Sports Network following the 2011 season.
Last year, Fogg led the country by averaging 33.5 yards per kickoff return (717 yards/23 returns), setting a new program and conference record. He also set a program record and was one of only two Division I players (FBS and FCS) to finish the season with three kickoff returns for touchdown, tying the Big South record.
Boyd, a 2011 Associated Press third-team All-America selection, started nine of the 10 games he played in last year.
He graded out an 86 percent for the season, helping him earn first-team all-conference and second-team all-state honors. He recorded 60 knockdowns and only allowed one sack during the season.
Boyd was part of an offensive line that was named the team's "Offensive Player of the Week" after the line's strong play against Coastal Carolina on Oct. 15.
He was also key part of Liberty's offensive line that helped the Flames finish the year ranked No. 8 in the country in scoring offense (35.91 points per game), No. 19 in passing offense (270.27) and 20th total offense (426.25).
Liberty is three weeks away from taking the field for its first football practice of August training camp on Aug. 2, officially starting its preparation for its season-opener at Wake Forest on Sept. 1.
