2012 Liberty Women's Soccer Schedule

The Liberty women's soccer program will take the Osborne Stadium field an unprecedented 11 times in 2012. Visits from Pittsburgh and Drexel along with an expanded conference slate highlight the program's record-setting home ledger.

"I am excited to see how this year turns out," head coach Jessica Hain stated, who enters her fifth season at the program's helm. "The non-conference schedule should prepare us very well for Big South competition. I am looking forward to seeing the work God does in the lives of our players, this season."

Hain and the Lady Flames open the season against Southern Conference member Davidson (Aug. 17) before returning home to host Drexel (Aug. 19). For the 10th straight season, Liberty heads north to Charlottesville to take on the Virginia (Aug. 22), followed by a first-ever meeting against USC Upstate at home (Aug. 26).

Liberty hits the road for a pair of matchups at American (Aug. 31) and Old Dominion (Sept. 2). The Lady Flames close out the non-conference schedule at home, taking on BIG EAST member Pittsburgh for the first time in program history (Sept. 7), as well as George Washington (Sept. 14) and South Carolina State (Sept. 16).

Liberty remains at home to complete a five-game homestand, opening conference play against Presbyterian (Sept. 20) and UNC Asheville (Sept. 22). The team heads to the beach for games against Coastal Carolina (Sept. 27) and Charleston Southern (Sept. 29), which precedes home meetings versus Gardner-Webb (Oct. 4) and Winthrop (Oct. 6).

Hain and the Lady Flames conclude road play with a trio of contests at High Point (Oct. 11), Campbell (Oct. 13) and VMI (Oct. 18). Liberty ends the 2012 regular season with home contests against Radford (Oct. 20) and the newest Big South member, Longwood (Oct. 23).

"Longwood has proven to be a great travel partner with us over the years," Hain said. "I am excited to have them in the league this year."

Eight teams will compete in the 2012 Big South Championship, with the top four seeds hosting first round matchups on Oct. 27. Tournament play then moves to Winthrop's Eagle Field for the semifinals and finals, Nov. 2 and 4. The conference champion receives an automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament.
