Liberty Volleyball Honored With Big South Team Sportsmanship Award
Liberty has been voted the 2006 recipient of the Big South Conference's Team Sportsmanship Award for volleyball, it was announced today by Big South Commissioner Kyle B. Kallander. This is the second-straight year the Lady Flames have captured the honor.

Coach Shane Pinder's Lady Flames, who enjoyed their best Big South finish since 2003, earning the No. 3 seed for the Big South Championship, received three first-place votes and 15 points. Radford finished second in the voting with nine points and Charleston Southern ended up third with seven tallies.

The team awards are voted on by Big South student-athletes and are awarded at the end of each competitive season. Teams cannot vote for themselves.

"The Big South Conference places great emphasis on the values of sportsmanship and fair play," said Kallander. "The creation of these awards appropriately recognizes those student-athletes and coaches within the conference that are leaders in exemplifying these values."

Liberty has now captured three Big South Team Sportsmanship Awards this fall, as both the men's and women's cross country teams previously garnered the honor.
