Liberty Head Women's Soccer Coach Jessica Hain has announced the signing of eight student-athletes. Among those signing national letters of intent to attend Liberty University during the 2012-13 academic year are Brittany Aanderud, Jaime Bouffard, Jordan Custer, Crystal Elmers, Johanna Kern, Alexandra Mack, Rebekah Page and Holly Van Noord. "God is setting the stage for an outstanding season and we are blessed to have these girls join us in August," Hain stated. "Each student-athlete brings a unique style and gift set to the team. I feel like we have a balanced incoming class that will immediately challenge our current student-athletes to achieve a higher standard. It is an exciting time to be a Lady Flame."
Brittany Aanderud, Midfield, 5-4, Sunny Hills High School (Fullerton, Calif.) An accomplished player on the club circuit, Aanderud (Fullerton, Calif.) played center midfielder for Arsenal FC, helping her squad capture an Elite Clubs National League national championship and a Surf Cup championship. A multiple letterwinner at Sunny Hills High School, Aanderud is a three-time all-league and first team All-California Interscholastic Federation honoree. During her junior year, she was named team and league MVP. Heading into her senior season at Sunny Hills, she has posted 41 goals and 40 assists during her high school career. Upon her arrival to the Hill City, Aanderud will not be the only member of her family at Liberty, as her brother Bryan is an infielder for the Flames baseball team. Jaime Bouffard, Forward/Midfield, 5-5, Oswego High School (Oswego, N.Y.) A versatile soccer player, Bouffard (Oswego, N.Y.) is a three-time letterwinner at Oswego. During her sophomore season, she earned second team honors as a forward. The following season, Bouffard was named the team's defensive MVP and received honorable mention as a goalkeeper. Bouffard returned to her roots during her senior year, racking up honors as a forward, including all-league, All-Section 3 and All-Central New York. In addition to being the team's captain her final season, she was also named the squad's offensive MVP. Apart from her success in the high school ranks, Bouffard possesses experience on the club scene as a member of Empire United Syracuse and is an Olympic Development Program participant.
Jordan Custer, Midfield/Defender, 5-10, James Martin High School (Arlington, Texas) Custer is a varsity letterwinner at James Martin High School, taking the field at defense and midfield. On the club level, she is a member of Solar Red 94 and participant in the Elite Club National League and U.S. Soccer's id2 development program. A strong student with a 3.8 GPA, Custer plans to study law at Liberty.
Crystal Elmers, Forward/Midfield, 5-8, Smithville District Christian (Smithville, Ontario, Canada) An all-around athlete, Elmers is a high school letterwinner in five different sports – soccer, basketball, track, volleyball and badminton. With multiple honors in each sport, Elmers has excelled in the sport of soccer. In 2011, she was the top scorer in the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA), leading her team to a runner-up finish. That same year, Elmers was named MVP of the Spec Cup. On the club level, Elmers is a member of the Oakville 1994A Girls club team and was a Top 10 scorer within the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL). Elmers will join her older sister Dawn, who is currently a defender for the Lady Flames. Johanna Kern, Forward/Defender, 5-8, Union Ridge Academy (Burlington, N.C.) A homeschool student who competes at Union Ridge Academy, Kern (Burlington, N.C.) also brings versatility to the Lady Flames' roster, previously receiving starts as a forward and defender. Kern also has experience at the club level, taking the field for the MSF-Liberty U18 Girls team. A strong student academically, Kern holds a 3.79 GPA and intends to major in nursing at Liberty.
Alexandra Mack, Forward, 5-4, Homeschooled (Naples, Italy) Mack signs with Liberty after an accomplished high school career in Europe. A member of the Napoli Calacio Femminile and USYS Italia Select club teams, Mack was also a participant in the Olympic Development program for the past four years. In 2011, the forward led her squad to the 2011 Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDs) European Championship, earning MVP all-tournament team honors. A first team All-Europe and all-conference honoree, Mack also earned MVP honors during her time at Naples American High School, posting 23 goals and six assists in her junior season. A dual-sport athlete, she also ran cross country at Naples American and was named the team's MVP.
Rebekah Page, Midfielder, 5-5, Caldwell Academy, (Greensboro, N.C.) Page makes her way to the Hill City after a successful stint on the high school and club level. A member of NC Fusion Elite 93, Page helped her team capture the state championship in 2011. The same year, she led Caldwell Academy to a North Carolina AA state championship, finishing her junior season with 16 goals and 13 assists. A two-time all-state and three-time all-conference honoree, Page was also a letterwinner in basketball, track and cross country at Caldwell Academy, garnering awards and accolades in each sport. During the 2009-10 school year, she was named the school's Female Athlete of the Year.
Holly Van Noord, Goalkeeper, 5-10, Unity Christian High School (Hudsonville, Mich.) The lone goalkeeper of Liberty's signing class, Van Noord adds another option to the Lady Flames' current group of netminders. Heading into her senior year at Unity Christian, she has garnered all-state honors her three previous seasons. During her junior year, she was a member of the Michigan Dream Team. Off the field, Van Noord excels in the classroom, holding 3.6 GPA. Upon arriving at Liberty, she intends to major in physical education.
